Sports Dreams

Sports Dreams

Sports Dreams elicits vivid vignettes of the lower North Island; hours spent staring out the window of the Capital Connection train, or late afternoon sun on Transmission Gully. Made up of Shannen Petersen (Fruit Juice Parade) and Fraser Williams (First Move), the band was initially formed in Palmerston North, and is now spread between there and Wellington.

Sports Dreams - Weather Admitting

Sports Dreams elicit vivid vignettes of North Island roadtrips with their lilting, thoughtful, brand of electronic pop. Of single DIY, Undertheradar.co.nz said that it brought "massive feels...Petersen declares "you win, unknowingly I let you in" atop a lush bed of panoramic guitars, heart-melting keys and minimal, almost industrial-textured electronic percussion." These characteristics continue throughout the EP, whether on the upbeat shout out to good friends, Fuzzyor the ballad to a Pōneke landmark, Matairangi. The centrepiece and highlight of the EP though is track 3 Banger - a summery, gliding track with a chorus that breaks open and ends with an honest refrain of "you have to know I can't put this on."
